Art Journaling

An art journal is a sketchbook, scrapbook, and diary all in one — a place where anything goes. In Art Journaling, students build and fill journals of their own: drawing, painting, collage, found papers, lettering, and mixed-media experiments, one spread at a time.

Over six weeks, students pick up composition, color, and a toolbox of techniques — layering, lettering, fold-outs, pockets, and painted spreads — along with the habit of making something every week. Students leave with a journal full of their own work and the skills to keep it going on their own.

Art Journaling is part of Art Lab, our weekday after-school art series. Each day of the week is a different class, and each runs in six-week sessions — so students can try one, or stack a few.
