Teacher Development

Hands-on, interdisciplinary, design-thinking workshops for educators that blend art, design, and technology.

At Newburgh Creates, we believe teachers are designers — of environments, experiences, and futures. Our Teacher Development Day is a creative reset and a collaborative space where educators explore hands-on, design-driven approaches to teaching. Through the lens of design thinking, we empower teachers to spark curiosity, encourage experimentation, and co-create with students in new and meaningful ways.

Program Highlights

  • Design Thinking in Action

Engage in hands-on, project-based activities that bring the design thinking process to life — from empathy and ideation to prototyping and reflection. Learn how to apply these flexible, human-centered methods to inspire creativity and collaboration in your classroom.

  • Creative Teaching Labs

Participate in interdisciplinary workshops led by artists, educators, and creative professionals. Each session models adaptable strategies rooted in process, play, and problem-solving — equipping you to design learning experiences that are student-centered, experimental, and open-ended.

  • Resources to Spark Change

Leave with a toolkit full of ready-to-use prompts, materials, and frameworks. Whether you’re reimagining a lesson or starting a new unit, you’ll have the confidence — and resources — to make your classroom a launchpad for curiosity and creativity.

What teachers are saying!

  • “I left feeling energized and totally recharged. The workshops gave me new tools and a new mindset. It reminded me that teaching is a creative practice — and that my students can be designers, too.”

Mr. Alvarado, High School Technology Teacher

  • “This wasn’t your typical sit-and-listen PD. We were building, thinking, reflecting, and collaborating the whole time. I already used one of the design challenges with my students, and they LOVED it.”

Ms. Greene, 7th Grade Art Teacher

  • “The day was inspiring and practical — a perfect mix. I walked away with resources I could use immediately, but more importantly, I felt reminded of why I teach.”

    Mrs. Chu, Elementary Art Specialist
